THE THEORY OF OPEN SYSTEMS AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE FOR BIOCHEMISTRY,

Abstract

The theory of open systems is not called upon to replace biological theories and gives no key to the solution of biological problems. Its value consists of the fact that in comparison with the theory of reactions in closed systems, which has been widely used till now in biochemistry, it, with its deep dynamic conceptions, approximates much better the properties of biological systems and, therefore, is a great step forward in the matter of creating a more adequate physicochemical basis for general biochemistry.
