SCREENING TESTS OF THERMAL INSULATING MATERIALS FOR THE EXTERIOR SURFACE OF STRUCTURAL SKINS,

Abstract

The object of this test is to furnish information on the properties of light weight materials for protecting aluminum skins against aerodynamic heating; i.e., insulating properties, thermal properties, resistance to air erosion, resistance to cracking due to tension field wrinkling, surface smoothness, weight, water absorption, fuel and oil resistance, tear propagation resistance, low temperature strength and elasticity.
