COMPARISON OF DISCRETE ORDINATES CALCULATIONS WITH MEASURED NEUTRON SPECTRA IN STANDARD SHIELD GEOMETRIES,

Abstract

The anisotropic discrete ordinates code GAPLSN, its down-scattering-only version GGSN, and the newer 1DF version of the DTF-IV code were used to analyze most of the spatially-dependent neutron spectrum experiments at the General Atomic Linear Accelerator. The neutron spectrum was measured by the pulsed-source, time-of-flight method with an accuracy of about plus or minus 10% and an energy resolution of 2% or better below 1 MeV, rising to 8% at 15 MeV.
