INTRODUCTION TO WAVE PROPAGATION IN COMPOSITE MATERIALS.

Abstract

The dynamic elasticity equations for isotropic material together with their variations and different simplifications are presented. The basic concepts in wave propagation, especially those concerned with wave velocity, phase velocity, dispersion, and vibration analysis, are discussed. Dispersion equations for a composite two-layered cylindrical shell are derived. The application of the method of characteristics to the two-layered equations are also presented. (Author)
