Abstract

The paper describes a partially automated investigation, using an IBM 7090 computer, to develop objective forecast techniques for forecasting ceiling/visibility conditions less than 1500 feet and/or 3 miles at Colorado Springs, Colorado. Six forecast techniques (three seasonal periods and two forecast periods) complete with forecast checklists and the selected scatter diagrams are presented as a final result of the investigation.
