INVARIANT FORMULATION OF THE THEORY OF THE GRAVITATIONAL WAVE FIELD (INVARYANTNAYA FORMULIROVKA TEORII GRAVITATSIONNOGO VOLNOVOGO POLYA),

Abstract

The special case of gravitational radiation is singled out with the aid of the requirement that no field sources exist inside the space-time region in question. The role of field equations is played by the Bianchi identities, which assume in the weak-field approximation on a form analogous to the Maxwell equations for the electromagnetic field in vacuum. The author proposes to regard this analogy as the starting point when studying the nature of gravitational radiation.
