PULSED ARC IN ARGON AT PRESSURES UP TO 10 TO THE 8TH POWER N/SQ M (IMPULSNAYA DUGA V ARGONE PRI DAVLENIYAKH DO 10 TO THE 8TH POWER N/SQ M),

Abstract

A description is given of an experimental setup producing argon pulsed arcs at pressures up to 10 to the 8th power newton/sq m with currents up to 50 ka, and a pulse duration on the order of .001 sec. Argon plasmas with densities on the order of 10 to the 20th power/cc and temperatures on the order of 40,000K are obtained on the setup. Considerable emission absorption is established in such plasmas. (Author)
