V/STOL APPROACH AND LANDING SYSTEMS.

Abstract

The report presents the results of a survey on the practicalities of providing approach and landing guidance for V/STOL aircraft in accordance with the recommendations of AGARD Report VLS '65. While specific equipments were examined, the findings are framed in terms of general system types and should be interpreted as such. It is recommended that development work on guidance systems should continue at its present level pending the availability of more flight trials information on approach techniques and that meanwhile a review of V/STOL instrument displays be undertaken.
