AIRCRAFT INSTRUMENT FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF DIMENSIONS AND CONCENTRATION OF LARGE PARTICLES IN CLOUDS AND PRECIPITATION (SAMOLETNYI PRIBOR DLYA IZMERENIYA RAZMEROV I KONTSENTRATSII KRUPNYKH CHASTITS V OBLAKAKH I OSADAKAKH),

Abstract

An instrument for measuring dimensions and concentration of large particles in clouds and precipitation is examined. The instrument, mounted on the side of an aircraft, consists of a transducer, optical circuit, photomultiplier, and recording devices (in the aircraft). The article discusses the principle of operation of the instrument, design of the transducer, calibration and operation of the instrument in flight, and errors in measurements. (Author)
