OPTICAL AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES OF INSULATORS.

Abstract

Various optical properties of paramagnetic salts were studied. We conclude that the dipole movement is the proper operator, to be taken between four component spinors, for spin forbidden transitions. The role of covalency on axial field splittings was also investigated. The electric dipole transition strengths of paramagnetic tetrahedral complexes are calculated with the inclusion of charge transfer states. (Author)
