PARTICLE SIZE LINE BROADENING RESULTING FROM TI3AL PRECIPITATION IN TI-AL ALLOYS,

Abstract

The effect of temperature on growth of Ti3Al precipitates in Ti - Al Alloys was determined with sensitive X-ray diffraction techniques. It was found that the precipitate size in Ti-8.5% Al alloy was considerably more dependent on aging temperature than the precipitate size in 8-1-1 alloy. Also the solvus temperature for precipitation was approximately the same for the two alloys (675C to 700C). (Author)
