SURFACE WAVES AND DYNAMIC BOTTOM PRESSURE AT ARGUS ISLAND, BERMUDA.

Abstract

An analysis of the dynamic bottom pressure and the surface waves recorded at Argus Island has been made. Included are joint probability distributions of wave amplitudes and half periods, transfer functions between the surface waves and the bottom pressure, and crosscorrelations between the surface waves and the bottom pressure. It was found that the local transfer function imposes a boundary condition on the bottom pressure distributions, and that under certain conditions the bottom pressure will lag in time behind the surface waves.
