THE STUDY OF THE KINETICS OF ELECTRODE PROCESSESS.

Abstract

A summary is given of a research program which has as its principle objective the development of an understanding of the kinetics of various electrode processes, with particular attention given to processes of importance in optimizing the design of various electrochemical devices and systems of importance in electrochemical energy conversion. Topics include: Oxygen electrode kinetics; the hydrogen electrode; the chlorine electrode; nickel electrode kinetics; alkali metal amalgams; heterogeneous redox kinetics; optical studies of electrode-solution interfaces using multiple attenuated total reflection and specular reflection; pressure-step relaxation method for the study of electrode kinetics.
