THE INFLUENCE OF A PRESSURE GRADIENT IN A FLOW ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF CAVITATION ZONES (VLIYANIE GRADIENTA DAVLENIYA V POTOKE NA RAZVITIE ZONY KAVITATSII),

Abstract

In hydrodynamic pipes designed for studying cavitation it has been noted that there is usually a pressure drop along the axis. Therefore, there has been a recent tendency to construct hydrodynamic pipes with a means for attaining constant pressure. The article investigates the relationship between the pressure gradient and the length of the cavitation zone, demonstrating that the zone will be longer when the pressure gradient is weak. The experiments and results are described in detail. (Author)
