ANALYSIS OF DESTRUCTION OF THE BASE COMPONENTS OF POWERFUL HYDRAULIC PRESSES (ANALIZ RAZRUSHENIYA BAZOVYKH DETALEI MOSHCHNYKH GIDRAVLICHESKIKH PRESSOV),

Abstract

The article reviews and analyzes the causes of breakdowns of components of powerful hydraulic presses occurring during the past few years. It is found that cross pieces made from cast steel of specification 35L successfully resists stresses but has been known to fail when a concentration of stresses in the form of a figured hole is used under the ejector in the lower stretched belt. An analysis of the stresses leading to the failure is included and a remedy suggested. Analysis is also described in the cases of failure of working cylinders due to faulty design. Columns also have been observed which failed because of poor metal quality. Ultrasonic checking before installation is recommended. (Author)
