A CONTRIBUTION TO THE CLINIC OF ACUTE LYMPHOCYTIC MENINGITIS,
Abstract
A definite similarity is noted in the clinical picture of initial acute lumphocytic meningitis as described in the literature and in the patients described. The disease's acute start is accompanied with sharp headache, vomiting, serious somatic condition, preeminence of the rigidity in the occipital muscles over the other meningeal signs, slight expression of the encephalytic manifestations, and infrequency of the craniocerebral nerves', and particularly the oculomotor nerve's, affection. The lymphocytic pleocytosis in the cerebrospinal fluid is constant. In the overwhelming majority of cases the prognosis of this disease is favorable. The important practical value of a timely differential diagnosis between the disease described and tubercular meningitis is emphasized.
