COMPUTER/DISPLAY INTERFACE STUDY.

Abstract

The construction, wiring, and debugging of MAGIC II is continuing. The wire-wrap technique being used in MAGIC II, while very satisfactory electrically and from the standpoint of high density of connections, is quite demanding and is proceeding more slowly than anticipated. It is evidently much more suited to the use of automatic wiring. The development of function-generated circuits is continuing. Circuits for generating display lines and circles are being refined and more economical components are being investigated. Circuitry for interfacing the character generator to the logic circuitry is largely completed. Design of the circuitry for the display locator (cross-hairs) has been completed and breadboarding of this circuitry is in process. The light pen has been checked out using a laboratory oscilloscope. The report includes two papers considering the assembly language for the NBS CORD time-sharing system and a discussion of graphical languages and displays. (Author)
