ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE MEASUREMENT METHODOLOGY, COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT.

Abstract

During this reporting period, primary emphasis has been directed toward the development of techniques for measuring radiated interference and susceptibility in shielded enclosures over the frequency range from 20 MHz to 200 MHz. A theory has been developed to explain the presence of coupling nulls in the near-field of radiating sources in shielded enclosures at low frequencies (below 100 MHz). If this theory can be validated, additional approaches to the solution of the measurement problems in the 20 to 200 MHz frequency range will be available. An experimental study program to determine the optimum length for the hood of a hooded antenna was initiated during this period. Preliminary results from this study indicate that it may be possible to obtain an essentially constant beamwidth over a frequency bandwidth of greater than 3:1. (Author)
