OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE 'URAL' DIGITAL COMPUTER (CHAPTERS I AND III),

Abstract

Chapter 1 contains a description of the 'Ural' computer. It is classed as a small automatic universal electronic digital computer, intended for use in computing centers, research institutes, design and construction bureaus, and in any other organization for the solution of the most varied engineering, mathematical, and logical problems. Its basic specifications are given, and its component units described. The principles of operation are given in sequence. Chapter 3 deals with the work organization, and describes the number of work shifts and their hours of duty. Maintenance was performed according to instructions on a daily, weekly, monthly quarterly, and annual basis. Each of these maintenance schedules is described together with the necessary records required.
