MEASUREMENTS OF THE THERMAL REGIME OF THE SOIL AND ATMOSPHERE NEAR AN ARCTIC TUNDRA SURFACE,

Abstract

The results of measurements of ambient air temperature and temperature profiles in the tundra soil and snow near Barrow, Alaska, are presented for the period September 1965 to September 1966. Data for the diurnal variation of temperature and net total radiation, daily depth of thaw during the summer of 1966, and an empirical method of calculating the depth of thaw are given. (Author)
