PROBABILITY OF ELECTRON TRANSITIONS OF ATOMS IN NONHOMOGENEOUS ELECTRICAL FIELDS WITH ARBITRARY ANGULAR DEPENDENCE. NEW METHOD OF CALCULATION (VEROYATNOSTI ELEKTRONNYKH PEREKHODOV ATOMOV V NEODNORODNYKH ELEKTRICHESKIKH POLYAKH S PROIZVOLNOI UGLOVOI ZAVISIMOSTYU NOVYI METOD RASCHETA),

Abstract

The probability of electronic transitions is determined for a H atom in a weak, const., nonhomogeneous electric field. This method gives the same results as those obtained by the first approxn. of the perturbation theory with respect to the potential energy of the atom in this field, and this method does not encounter any of the difficulties of the usual perturbation method. The method is also applicable to more complex atoms. An independent proof is presented of the correctness of the results obtained by this method.
