THE INVARIANT IMBEDDING NUMERICAL METHOD FOR FREDHOLM INTEGRAL EQUATIONS WITH SEMIDEGENERATE KERNELS,

Abstract

A method using invariant imbedding is given for converting Fredholm integral equations with semidegenerate kernels into equivalent initial-value problems that can be solved effectively by analog or digital computers. In this formulation of the initial-value problem the interval length is viewed as an essential variable. A proof is given showing that the solution of the initial-value problem yields a solution of the Fredholm integral equation. Results of test calculations are presented, as well as a FORTRAN program.
