IMAGE ENHANCING MICROSCOPE.

Abstract

The report describes the considerations which were used in the design of the Image Enhancing Microscope. Derivation of the theoretical factors affecting system signal-to-noise ratio and resolution are given. Reasons and experimental background are detailed to justify the selection made for each of the critical system components. Descriptions are given of aperture correction and phosphor compensation circuitry which extract the maximum performance from critical components with less than theoretically ideal performance. Representative imagery is included which illustrates high resolution, contrast enhancement, outlining and crispening. (Author)
