REACTION OF ETHYLENE GLYCOL MONOALKYL ETHERS WITH PHOSPHORUS PENTASULFIDE (VZAIMODEISTVIE MONOALKILOVYKH EFIROV ETILENGLIKOLYA S PYATISERNISTYM FOSFOROM0,

Abstract

A study as made of the reactions of ethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers with phosphorus pentasulfide in order to develop new antioxidant additives for lubricating oils. The following compounds were thus prepared: 0.0-di(beta-methoxyethyl)dithiophosphate, 0,0-di(beta-ethoxyethyl)dithiophosphate, 0,0-di(beta-propoxyethyl)dithiophosphate, 0,0-di(beta-butoxyethyl)dithiophosphate, and 0,0-di(beta-pentoxyethyl)dithiophosphate. The structure of these compounds was identified by converting these compounds to their ammonium salts and analyzing the latter. The physicochemical constants of both groups of compounds are tabulated. (Author)
