300 MILLIWATT X-BAND TRIODE OSCILLATOR.

Abstract

Thirty-three triodes were assembled. Of these, eighteen feature a grid design that has given best operational life to date, and eight had larger cathodes (0.130 in. diameter versus 0.120 in. diameter). Electronic tuning by means of the most recent diodes is inadequate in frequency range, unless inordinate rf energy is lost in the process. Smith charts of varactor diodes are presented to illustrate the problem. (Author)
