Abstract
This article discusses the relationship between information loss and information noise in a descriptor information retrieval system and the language and program used in search and retrieval. Six types of languages are herein investigated. These are natural language with grammar, natural language without grammar, natural language with mono-radical word forms, key words taken from text, descriptor language without grammar, and descriptor language with grammar. The influence of basic textual relationship on the completeness and redundancy of information read-out is investigated. One hundred documents were searched in the experiment using 50 inquiries which were composed for this purpose. These queries were grouped according to the number of descriptors in each, which was 2, 3, or 4. Curves of the experimental results are presented and analyzed in the article.
