MEDITATIONS ABOUT RECEPTION (RAZMYSHLENIYA O PRIEME),

Abstract

The report deals with the subject of admission of students to institutes of higher learning. With more applicants than there are vacancies, a better entrance system should be devised. Many students themselves, give insufficient thought to their choice of an institution or their reasons for wanting such education. Some institutions will take as many as ten applications for each vacancy. When final selection is made many are disappointed, and many of those rejected are good students who would have been admitted to some other less crowded school. The admittance examinations are too brief to properly evaluate the candidate. Rural youths get passed over in favor of city bred youngsters, because the farmer takes a little longer to develop scholastically. Therefore, testing should go on over a large period and selection methods should be standardized and improved nation-wide. (Author)
