WHO SHOULD BE A SCIENTIST (KOMU BYT UCHENYI),
Abstract
The author writes of the causes of present low quality of most post-graduate studies. The greatest damage is done by persons working on a subject for which they have no real talent. Post-graduate students should be admitted because they have a deep understanding of a problem. In practice, most return to the institute and ask for a theme on which to work. Many theses are too verbose and 'muddy', revealing a lack of ability and comprehension of both the problem and the true scientific approach. The leaders of the institute also are not wholly blameless. They should direct students to a worthwhile aspect of the subject which will help solve a current industrial problem rather than allowing the student to embark on a bid project which really has many facets.
