ORDER FOR MANAGEMENT (ZAKAZ NA UPRAVLENIE),
Abstract
The article calls for wider uses of the Soviet version of Progressive Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT). The advantages of this technique are illustrated by citing a laboratory at Novosibirsk University. The article also mentions a laboratory for the application of statistical and mathematical methods in economics of the Siberian Branch, Academy of Sciences, USSR. The laboratory gets know-how assistance from staffers of the Mathematical Institute of the Academy. The author claims that the new form of collaboration between science and industry, which was proposed two years ago, is about to be realized in Novosibirsk. Next to academy institutes and laboratories, which operate on state-allocated funds, 'research-production' firms of different ministries will spring up that will be economically independent of the state budget.
