Abstract
It is pointed out that the use of a photographic photometer in investigating the propagation of light in water would eliminate some of the difficulties which occur when photomultipliers and photocells are used for this purpose. The experimental investigation of the distribution of the light field in the vicinity of a narrow-beam of light transmitted across a water surface and through the water is described.
