COMPUTATION TECHNOLOGY IN AUTOMATIC CONTROL SYSTEMS (VYCHISLITELNAYA TEKHNIKA V AVTOMATICHESKIKH SISTEMAKH UPRAVELENIYA),

Abstract

So far the problems of overall automation could, as a rule, be mainly with respect to local processes. The control of large-scale systems representing an intricate complex of interconnected local processes and units, with the human attendant controlling individual facilities and sectors on the basis of analysis and evaluation of the incoming information, still has not been accomplished. Thus, the extraction and correct utilization of information are vital functions of new forms of control. The received information for the formation of control signals is processed in accordance with the appropriate control algorithm and defined by a system of logic rules formalizing the structural properties of the flows of information interchange. At present the following types of automatically controlled information systems exist: control computers for individual industrial and transport facilities; centralized inventory, billing and control systems of industrial enterprises; and large systems for processing information of nationwide significance in planning, supply, finance, statistics, transport, etc. The control computer is an assemblage of devices for the reception and identical transformation of input information in accordance with a given algorithm.
