ELASTIC CONSTANTS OF SMALL SINTERED CERAMIC SPECIMENS.

Abstract

A method of fabricating specimens in order to measure elastic properties is described. The instrument, a pneumatic sphere grinder has been evaluated by measuring the wear rate upon several different specimens of moderate mechanical hardness. The wear rate is proportional to the mass of the specimen as it is ground to a spherical shape, and was found to have an almost linear dependence upon the input pressure. (Author)
