IONIC DIFFUSION UNDER HIGH PRESSURE IN POROUS SOLID MATERIALS PERMEATED WITH AQUEOUS, ELECTROLYTIC SOLUTIONS.

Abstract

The effect of pressure on ionic diffusion in aqueous KCl and MgSO4 solutions and KCl in ethanol-water solution through a microposous glass disk at 25 degrees C is small. The present experiments yielded the relative rates of diffusion only, and the results obtained do not distinguish between diffusion processes comparable to those in bulk water and much slower diffusion through pressure-stable highly structured interfacial water.
