SHOCK WAVE PRECURSOR MEASUREMENTS. PART I. ONE DIMENSIONAL THEORY OF ELECTROSTATIC PROBES IN UNSTEADY CONDITIONS WITH ION GENERATION.

Abstract

The requirement of high sensitivity gages for precursor measurements in weakly ionized gas ahead of shock waves in diaphragm-operated shock tubes has been met by establishing an electrostatic probe theory fit for the experimental conditions. Explicity expressions for ion number density, concentration and precursor source function have been found. (Author)
