WINTER--LANDING UNDER CONDITIONS OF ICE-FORMATION (ZIMA. POSADKA V USLOVIYAKH OBLEDENENIYA),

Abstract

The reasons are given for dealing with the prelanding pattern of turbojet and turboprop aircraft in winter. The different ice forms are described as well as where they are formed and their effect on the stability. The effects of the load factor and the speed are dealt with. Further discussed are the problems of the effectiveness of the deicing system, the kind of flight (whether horizontal, descending, or ascending), the utilization of the power plant, the timeliness of switching on of the system, the effect on the control stick, etc. (Author)
