EXPERIMENT OF CONSTRUCTION OF A SIGNAL WITH RHOMBIC LATTICE (OPYT POSTROIKI SIGNALA S ROMBICHESKOI RESHETKOI),
Abstract
The paper is concerned with the construction, torsion and rigidity of the Poligonnyy signal. This signal was prepared entirely on the ground. The main columns were jointed by several single beams; each diagonal and horizontal cross-piece consisted of two parts. Data concerning the quantity of outlay of wood and nails is provided. According to the data of the research, one may conclude that trihedral signals with rhombic lattice are sufficiently rigid and should find wide use, so long as they offer more opportunity for mechanization of work and centralized preparation of components for the signals.
