VALIDATION OF THE COMMANDER'S EVALUATION REPORT ENLISTED EFFICIENCY REPORT AND THE MOS EVALUATION TEST FOR SINGLE-ENGINE SINGLE-ROTOR HELICOPTER MAINTENANCE CHIEF MOS CODE 67R40,

Abstract

For MOS code 67R40 the empirical validities were obtained for all predictors and combinations of predictors. The most appropriate utilization of these existing predictors was determined. Evaluative statistics were provided for Commander's Evaluation Report/Enlisted Efficiency Report (CER/EER) appraisal and revision. The following three methods of combining predictors were compared for the development of Raw Composite Scores (RCSs); (1) the present procedure of combining the total MOS evaluation test (ET) and the total CER/EER as prescribed by Department of the Army directive; (2) the weighting of the total MOS ET and the total CER/EER by statistical procedures; and (3) the weighting of the subdivisions of the MOS ET and CER/EER by statistical procedures. The validities, by method, were: method (1), .52, method (2), .49; and method (3), .70. Methods two and three were not found to give superior results to method one. Partial correlation coefficients for the CER/EER and CER/EER scales with the MOS ET held as a constant indicated that the total CER/EER and three of the 12 scales were independently valid predictors of job performance.
