COMPLETE-MODULO EQUIPMENT CHECK IN A SYSTEM OF TWO IDENTICAL COMPUTERS (APPARATNYI KONTROL PO POLNOMU MODULYU V SISTEME IZ DVUKH ODNOTIPNYKH EVM),

Abstract

One high-reliability control method is that of simultaneous solution of a problem by two machines, where checking can be performed by simply comparing the results in as fine a detail as necessary, down to operation-by-operation, of the two machines in case of disagreement. A block diagram is presented of an automatic comparator used in conjunction with two identical computers working synchronously on the same problem. The advantages of the method are stated to be: reduction in personnel needed for operation of equipment; reduction in the mathematical expectation and dispersion of repair time; redundancy of equipment for real-time problem solution; simplicity of synchronous control and circuitry required.
