OBSERVATIONS ON LINEAR ANISOTROPIC VISCOELASTICITY.

Abstract

The central issue in anisotropic viscoelasticity is the specification of the symmetry conditions for the time dependent stiffness or compliance matrices. This report constitutes the first experimental verification of the Onsager reciprocity relations for anisotropic viscoelastic solids and thereby establishes the basis for the stress-analysis and characterization of nonisotropic time dependent systems. An experimental method for inducing a uniform state of stress in anisotropic specimens is also presented. (Author)
