ON THE STRUCTURE OF SHOCK WAVES (K STRUKTURE UDARNYKH VOLN)

Abstract

The structure of shock waves in a thermally conducting viscous gas is examined. A 'law of conservation of irreversible energy flow' within a shock front is derived. Approximate analytic expressions for the integral curve are obtained for the cases where Prandtl's number P>>1 and P<<1 and for the velocity profile in a plasma with equal electron and ion temperatures in the approximation P = O.
