SUCCESSFUL USE OF A CRUDE ENDOGENOUS PLASMA TO REDUCE MORTALITY DUE TO THE PANLEUKOPENIA ENTERITIS COMPLEX IN NEWLY ACQUIRED LABORATORY CATS.

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to present data on the use of a locally prepared endogenous plasma for the prevention of the panleukopenia-enteritis complex in newly acquired cats in our laboratory. The use of such plasma has been successful in reducing the mortality rate in new cats from 39% to 5% during a period of 16 months. Plasma for this purpose is readily available, simple to prepare, and as effective as a commercially available, more expensive product. (Author)
