INTERACTION OF ACRIDINES WITH DNA

Abstract

It is known that two types of bonding exist between acridines and DNA in its native double helical configuration. The first type of bonding is observed at small ratios of the number of acridine molecules to the number of DNA nucleotides (P/D > or = 4, where P - the number of nucleotides, D - the number of acridine molecules), the second is observed at large concentrations of molecules (acridine < or = P/D < or = 3). This report is limited to an examination of a complex of the first type.
