ON FINDING EIGENVALUES BY THE METHOD OF NETS,

Abstract

An attempt is made to estimate all eigenvalues of a general m-dimensional self-adjoint elliptic operator by the method of nets. Using linear interpolation of the boundary values to the mesh boundary, the estimate is of second order with respect to the step-size. Also, for a certain class of regions the estimate is given for the solution without transferring the boundary values to the approximating boundary. (Author)
