FIBER AND YARN DENSITY DETERMINATION.

Abstract

Several methods for measuring density were reviewed and evaluated in an attempt to determine appropriate methods for measuring the apparent density of small yarn samples and single fibers. Many of the methods reviewed require a sample of considerable size to provide good reproducibility and precision. Advantages and disadvantages of all methods surveyed are discussed with particular emphasis on applicability to fibers and yarns. (Author)
