GRID4: A SUBROUTINE FOR THE UNCONSTRAINED MINIMIZATION OF A FUNCTION OF FOUR OR FEWER VARIABLES.

Abstract

A computer program is described to find unconstrained minima of functions with four or fewer independent variables. The method applied in the program is a modified direct grid search approach and no gradient or finite difference quotient evaluations are needed. The basic advantages of the method are its extreme reliability, accuracy, and independence of scaling conditions and variable interactions. (Author)
