PRINCIPLES OF FOUNDATION DESIGN.

Abstract

It is the purpose of the Digest to present a general review of the fundamental principles that must govern the design of foundations. The review discusses terminology; transfer of load to the ground and the decrease of stress; philosophy of design; subsurface investigation and groundwater; there are some comments on building regulations in general.
