SUPERSONIC FLOW OVER AN OBSTACLE IN THE FORM OF A GAS JET ON A PLATE,

Abstract

An investigation is made of the pattern of three-dimensional detached flow that forms near a secondary jet injected into a supersonic flow. It is found that in front of the secondary jet there forms both a complex three-dimensional system of compression shocks and a three-dimensional region of detached flow characterized by the presence of two horseshoe-shaped vortices of different structure and opposite directions of rotation. The tips of the vortices extend downstream on both sides of the secondary jet. Photographs of the flow pattern are included. (Author)
