CONVENTIONAL ROOF FRAMING - PRINCIPLES THAT BRING GOOD DESIGN.
Abstract
It is important to have an appreciation of the principles that should be followed in obtaining framing arrangements that will provide adequate strength. Two principles must be followed to obtain adequate roof strength: the rafters must be strong enough so they will not break in bending, and the rafters must be prevented from spreading apart when the roof is loaded with snow.
