ANALYSIS OF NOISE GENERATED BY UH-1 HELICOPTER TRANSMISSION

Abstract

A method of computing helicopter gearbox noise from design and operating data is presented. Measurements on UH-1D helicopters are used to provide a basis for this computation method. Its validation is shown by a comparison between calculated and measured noise spectrums. The method is used to quantitatively evaluate several kinds of noise-reducing design changes.
