APPLICATION OF POPOV'S CRITERIA IN OBTAINING BOUNDEDNESS RESULTS.

Abstract

It is known that for systems of the Lur'e form the satisfaction of Popov's criteria is sufficient to insure global asymptotic stability of the equilibrium state when nonlinearity is restricted to the popov sector. However, for nonlinearities which initially deviate from this sector but eventually enter and remain as the state increases, one would expect boundedness results. This is indeed the case and will be shown in this report. Along with this theorem, a Liapunov function will be constructed via the Kalman-Yakubovich lemma to demonstrate how numerical values of the bound may be obtained. (Author)
